That's really interesting about the altitude talk Joan. I just ask if they have specific areas they are interested in seeing and, if they would like to live close to work.

I believe your question is specific to the MILE HIGH CITY.

What do you tell folks coming to live in DENVER.

I would begin with. You really, really, really need to be a Broncos fan.

Then the lesser thing like oxygen deprivation (shorten that run), extended boiling times and monarch butterflies.

Same here Joan.  We do have the altitude talk with many that are new to the area and are experiencing altitude sickness.  We talk about all the cool things to see and do and then get down to RE business.

For buyers that are not familiar with the area, I try to give them an overview of what our area is like and get a feel for where I think they would most likely find a good fit.

There are so many thing and I'm assuming you are asking unrelated to real estate and where they should buy their house.  So I would suggest talking about entertainment, that it takes longer to cook things, just things that you have to deal with being at higher elevation but then again buyers will be the ones with lots of questions

Interesting to read about water and altitude.

Most conversations with relocating clients deals with traffic:  perception - miles versus minutes - the importance of time of day.

I have a full package of info I give my relo clients. Moving to Kauai is a big change for most people. For example I give referrals for shipping your car and household items, and tips for online shopping since some vendors gouge us on the shipping fees but others treat us like mainlanders.

I'd probably get to know how their life was in their previous location.  I would especially focus on their day to day activities, like what they like to eat, how often they go grocery shopping and what type of entertainment they like to enjoy.  Getting 'local' advice for where to shop and go for needs might be just what they need to acclimate and feel more comfortable.

In your case Joan, I would talk about how great Colorado is. I have told you that it is one of my favorite states.

good point joan, every area has its own quirks. there is so much to learn about a new area. sometimes i try to find out what they loved about where they are coming from, and if they loved it, try to emulate that??

Yes, if they want or need to hear...many of them pertain to the location of the homes they are looking in.

We don't have to worry about altitude sickness in the DC Metro area. Discussing the time and distance for their daily commute is a major factor.

Good to have someone to guide them through the transition.  My son recently moved to Denver, I wonder if he knew about the water tip.
