I purge regularly--at least twice a year.... we've moved so much, I learned a long time ago not to hoard.

The same - you have hit a chord with this one --- it is like pealing back an onion, seems to never end, and makes me want to cry!

We had a huge purging of the entire house, garage and yard and make a ton at a yard sale in May.

Here in Sarasota, I travel light.

In San Diego, that's another story! Sandy can get rid of as much of her stufftis that she wants!

In the process of doing it now. I have three piles: Throw away (which is filling the garbage can every week), give away, and sell.  Craigslist will be active soon.  :-)

Stuffitis,  now I have a name for it so it will be easier to deal with!    We have been working on our Stuffitis all week.  Still have more 'What-is-it-for' to go.  The Professor and I got behind due to health issues, now we try to send a little bit out every day.

On  regular basis --- stuff gremlins seem to reproduce like rabbits.   

I cannot stand stuff laying around, and have to discard if I don't need it.  Right now it is really tough with the kitchen remodel, as things are not put away! 

Going through it right now Michael and it is refreshing.  We recently sold our much bigger house and are downsizing to a smaller home.  Along with that comes the sale of excess furniture, giving away of items and trashing other unused items.  It is a great experience to realize you need all that stuff you've accumulated.

I try to purge every summer  - I pretend I'm moving and donate or throw away everything I wouldn't bother packing. This summer was complicated and I never got around to it so the house is feeling a little 'stuffed' for my tastes.

Don't worry here if it lies around over an hour the better half will take it to goodwill!

About once a month.  My next clearing/cleaning is just a few days away

I need to do it this fall. I have a lot of things I need to get rid off.

I gather about two-three bags a year and give away, if not good, I throw away:)

About two years ago, and it feels great. I don't go out and buy a bunch of stuff to replace what I've gotten rid of, either. 

On a regular basis. My wife and I, especially my wife, are anit-clutter.

A year ago right before we moved. We took 10 loads to the donations centers, gave things to the kids and friends and 7 loads to the dump. I have been very careful what I have bought since that time and still have some empty closet and cabinet space. I clean out my closet in the spring and fall.

I did a de-cluttering challenge: 10 items/day for 30 days. DID IT and did not miss a thing that I got rid of. Need to do much more! 

Everytime I move which seems to be about twice a year now. Not much junk laying around here!

Well I have had two major garage sales in the last five years. The first one I held on a Friday and Saturday and made $11,000! The next time I had a garage sale I was moving again and I held it on one day and made $5000! Let me see, it might be time to have another garage sale!

Michael Thornton My parents grew up in London during WW2, so nothing was ever discarded, as you never knew what might be useful. They passed that trait on to me.  Fortunately, my wife and fellow broker Suzanne, is exceptionally good at purging "stuff" when it's no longer needed!

I NEVER have "stuff" accumulate.... if I don't use it, it get thrown out or given away.... everything is in its place and there's a place for everything or it's not in my house...

We did this for the outside buildings this year, and this winter we tackle the house.

During my last move, I realized I was moving boxes that I had moved twice before and never opened. I guess I could do without the stuff in the boxes since they hadnt been opened in quite a few years.
