I know I am not coachable.  I've found the "gurus" are trying to teach things that to me, are common sense.  Also, there is one in particular that borrows material from a fantastic business women I studied in business school many decades ago:  Mary Kay Ash !!

I've been in sales my entire life and have taught sales techniques for many of those years.  I've discovered that some things just cannot be taught, LOL

I would say I no longer am.  I'm can learn new things and be inspired, but I'm very self motivated and self accountable and I now find coaches to be annoying and well... bullies. 

Anyone that sas they don't need to learn, are not coachable.  I would like to learn as much as I can.  Your never to old to learn.

Yes, I do.  Long timers are use to doing things in a certain way.  I only have a little over 8 years in and I am set in my ways.  However, I am teachable.  When I slow down long enough to hear the message...

Some people are open and some are not.  We find that when we interview people who want to work with us.  We pick the ones that really want to learn and are coachable, and they are usually very successful to begin with.  They still have "fire in their belly" and a desire to do better.  

We have a 76 year old client who worked with us because she did not want the young whippersnappers nipping at her heels. She works out 5 days a week, cardio, weights, etc.  She is not ready to retire, she is so passionate.  

We ran into her recently, she had 8 escrows closing, and was leaving for Spain 5 days later...so longevity has nothing to do with it.  She has put every grand child through college, as well as her kids..When she got back, she was closing 2-3 more.  No one is able to grab her market from her...Very coachable.  A

I think that I may make a better coach than coachee.

Though I am continually learning I have had a few coaches tell me that they did not think that their service was going to benefit me enough.

So perhaps I am NO LONGER Coach-able.

Anna Banana Kruchten My answer would be I am coachable and open to new ideas. I believe longevity in the business does affect some because many agents who didn't get on the technology band wagon were left with no business. Those who were not coachable to new ideas and technology updates were driven out of the business.

I would say there are those who are educable and then there are those who are trainable and then there are those who cannot be taught anything. They think they know it all.

I would say I don't need to pay someone to tell me what I should already know.  I am not coachable.

A few years ago I got roped into a coaching contract - by the end of the contract I was so ready for it to end and would not do it again.  Though I could not alter the terms or cancel, my coach changed 3-4 times as they decided to do other things.  Not for me - but learning is another matter. Always open to new ideas and change. But as far as how I operate, I am at my best when I do it my own way.  

Never too old to learn something new is our motto.

Great question, Anna!  I think for me the answer is influenced by the coach.

I strive to be very coachable. I don’t leave it to me own thinking to make the progress I’m committed to making.
