As a lender I will comment on what I have found makes me valued to my realtor partners. A lender is a reflection of the realtor. My realtors are endorsing me to the buyer as a subject matter expert and someone they can trust with the most important financial decision of their lives. That is a VERY high endorsement. To fulfill that endorsement I believe it is my responsibility to be knowledgeable, set accurate expectations, under-promise and over-deliver, and most importantly communicate. Never withhold information, if there is an issue bring it up so we can all get together and solve the issue. Most importantly… remember it is a relationship therefore it needs constant work and can never be taken for granted. I teach LO’s that they MUST over communicate and EARN their realtors business every day. I advocate attending open houses with the realtors and trying to help get someone qualified on the spot and submit offers. A LO is a financial salesperson and should be there selling their services with their realtors. It’s a partnership, treat it as such.
I've been told by many real estate agents that communication is the one thing they appreciate me bringing to the table most. I try to offer a lot, but communication is one area LO's need to shine when working in the purchase market.
Responsivness, honesty, proven track record to get the job done. My preferred lender meets all of these criteria on a daily basis --- earns my referrals over and over again!
Thanks all! As a lender, this is great confirmation that we are already focused on what matters to our realtor partners!
There are many important attributes but one very basic factor is that the lender is licensed to lend in Ontario since I am licensed in Ontario.
That they know what they are doing and have a reputation for showing us the money at settlement.
Patience...lots and lots
Avaibility and closing on time percentage.
Eddie Knoell I would say responsiveness.
I want a loan officer who provides reliable advice.
Eddie - Hard to pick just one. I would say their knowledge of loan programs and expertise in getting loans to close. However, honesty and communication are also very vital.
I consider the lender's communication skills with me and responsiveness to the buyer.
That the lender be a good reflection on me. My buyer needs to like and trust the lender just like they do me.
