If we are talking about the houses in the same location, I'd say, inside is more important. Now, when a lot of homeowners cut on water( severe water crisis in California, even some high end properties landscaping is dry and sad), less and less homeowners want to deal with ''amazing curb appeal'', unless it is designed using drought-tolerant plants.

Which one sells first?  The one with the most appropriate asking price.  It doesn't really matter which one you list if the price is right.

MIKE ROCK I believe good curb appeal will get a potential buyer in the front door. However, a so-so interior will not get the house sold.

Mike - I think most people would choose to have an amazing inside, and over time could change the outside if they wanted. Although sometimes I have seen where an amazing back yard can really sell a home, especially in outdoor living areas.

IMHO, I think the so-so with an amazing inside gets sold first.  The buyers are not expecting it.  Sometimes when the outside is over the top the Buyers automatically think they cannot afford the home.

Hi Mike -- Patricia Kennedy is right -- it's about price.   The right price will make a home with no curb appeal and lacking a good floor plan a winner.
