REALTOR® is the appropriate way but I cheat and just type Realtor.

Joe, it's REALTOR® and if the NAR finds it being used wrong they get very upset about it. And Annette is right. No one else on the planet cares.

Joe Petrowsky not only it should be upper case 'R', I think.
Here's something from Realtor.org site on how to use it --
"If the REALTOR® marks are in lower case, you are still using the membership marks. The registered mark is REALTOR in any and all of its forms. To encourage others to recognize its status, NAR has adopted certain standards for its appearance. Please note that the preferred format is in all caps with the registration symbol."

John McCormack has it right. The problem in the Q&A section is that we can't put in the trademark.

In Canada, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) mandates the format as REALTOR®. CREA licenses the trademark from NAR.

Incorrect use of the word REALTOR® is very common. It is a combination of a lack of knowledge and a lack of caring.

The trademark standard is REALTOR® in all caps which seems like we are screaming when we are trying to write. Then of course the new website is all lower case realtor.com®. Of course since that isn't owned by NAR I suppose they can make up their own version. I think the all caps is outdated.

It matter only to those who wish to make it matter to them.
NO ONE ELSE CARES.
There will always be someone unhappy about anything anyone chooses to do. Today, one needs to learn to ignore those who choose to make capitalization an issue instead of providing real commentary regarding the erosion of the realtor value by the dark-side. (spell check catches this error, so if the post is free of other spelling errors, you may consider it not a mistake but intentional)

It's suppose to be REALTOR® with the trademark symbol. And all in caps. I have heard of agents getting in trouble for not doing it correctly.

I know the correct way to display the title of those who are members of the National Association of REALTORS®. I wonder who cares except NAR? And…if you wish to correct me when I type Realtor – as I mostly do – you need to get a life.

Hi Joe Petrowsky. It is supposed to be capitalized and include the registered trademark symbol REALTOR® however all caps in the parlance of the world wide web is yelling so many times I use Realtor®.
The thing that drives me crazy is how REALTOR® is pronounced within our industry. It's REAL-TOR not RELA-TOR. There is no "a" between the "L" and the "T". If we can't pronounce our own title correctly what does that say about our investment in our profession?

REALTOR is an acronym. I've seen it spelled multiple ways as well, including realater, realator, etc. Most titles should be Capitalized.

Oh it's Realtor and it's trademarked. That really should be the first thing taught in school. Unfortunately there is alot that is not taught in school.

Joe,
You are absolutely correct. It should be REALTOR and if possible have the registered trademark logo behind it. Here is a great resource to refer to:

Realtor has become a generic name like "Kleenex". It should be capitalized, but we see more and more articles and blogs where it is not.
1,076,551
REALTOR® is correct, but for those who don't want to yell while typing, I think Realtor is the one that's best in text. As long as the R is capitalized, it gets the point across.

Nothing has changed other than people being lazy and not respecting the title. I don't always use the trademark or cap the entire word which I should. Guess I'm lazy too.

Officially it's supposed to be capitalized and the little copyright symbol is also supposed to be present right after the word.

You're throwing softballs this morning Joe. Capitalized with the the trade mark REALTOR®
