The Broker should know the real estate business and be available to help us if we have questions about real estate. I like Inna's comment that there are some poeple good in some things etc.

My dad used to say that you can learn something from everyone, even if you believe the person is dull and shallow.  Often you do not know what you do not know.

You can be better in some things, but you can not be better in everything. The idea that some people around you are better or smarter,  and some people  are ''not as good'' and  in some ways you are better than them is simply toxic!

People that you look down upon, they are better than you/me in many aspects. You just cannot see it yet. Perhaps, one day you will.

It isn't always about being the smartest. Being helpful and supportive carries a lot of weight. Being a good leader and energetic are good qualities that are respected. Integrity matters too.

That's a tough one Debbie.  There was a time, when I would have a problem with it, but now, I think it would work out if the broker would help me help them become a better broker.  Some people don't take help from their underlings very well.

They say one of the best roads to success is to surround yourself with people that are smarter than you are.  You really have to be self-confident to do that.  As a former managing broker, I can tell you, you may not know all the answers but if your broker is willing to get in there and dig and find the answers, you should consider yourself pretty lucky.  Great agents don't always make great brokers. Many times they think the agent should know the answer to the question they are asking.  BUT everything has its limits.  Only you know what you are really talking about when you say "Not smarter than you are".....

My experience has been that if the Broker wasn't as smart as me in one thing, they would be smarter than me in another.  Well, except for the one Broker who was just dishonest.  She wasn't smart, she wasn't kind and the only thing she excelled at was deceit.

Not as smart as me?

Hmmm, do you mean a broker who has not discovered their unblemished inner sanctuary?

Do you mean a broker who is not tuned into the real need of small business owners in a convulsing market place?

Or do you mean a broker who does not know the poison pills embedded in a real estate like-kind trade?

I HIRE THEM for the latter, and I DO NOT WORK FOR a broker. A broker is woefully incapable of understanding the greater dimension a life of fullness so no such expectation exists.

Talk smart, street smart- there are many who can, For $25K fee anyone can join a name brokerage and start his brokerage.

To be intellectually at same or similar wave length I have not yet seen one. Most brokers wanted to run a business.  Almost all want to make money and many lack integrity....

I hope that I would realize prior to signing up with a brokerage that the broker was not qualified to lead, manage, teach, mentor me and I would certainly not want to work with that broker.
