To be honest I've never really thought about having client control but as I now do ponder ...... Yes.
Great blog topic for you.

Richie Alan Naggar this could be a good blog on this topic - specially, you have a great style to discuss these concerns.
I tell my client that this is a project that we have to work together on. I will be your guide and open to suggestions. You are hiring me for my professional expertise and I'll do my best to make sure we get the best price for your home at best terms and conditions. However, I need your cooperation in showing, staging etc. Deal?
Working by referral has some advantages - one of them being non-confrontational. So when it comes to 'control', may be, I want to have the control keeping them in confidence that whatever I am doing is in their best interest and I want their cooperation.

for me its not control, or at least i dont see it like that. rather i look at it as getting the client to see themselves in a realistic light with realistic expectations. if thats control then i control the chit out of them, i prefer to look at like Ghandi, "The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the STRONG" I aim to see them to a place of strength as well :)

I am not sure what client control is. For me the buyer knows not to call the seller or the seller's agent. But other than that I do not ask for much more.

Richie Alan Naggar Total control is an absolute necessity. Without control, they will walk all over you. I believe I do have it.

Absolutely, I've seen agents whose clients walk all over them. And they want the business so bad, they comply. I believe clients hire me for my advice and I give it to them. If they don't take it, they need to know there are consequences. And if it looks like I get dragged into it from a liability and ethical standpoint, I have to tell them I need to bow out. My clients also learn my mantra, "keep your mouth shut" and let me deal with it.

We coach our agents to always control the transaction, which does involve controling your client.
