Depends on the situation, listening is important, and often times we can find points of agreement.

As Tammy Lankford said, it depends on the person and the situation... how well you know them and whether it is politics, religion or something on the personal side. I try to use humor whenever possible to diffuse tense situations.

it all depends on the person and the situation. All disagreements can't be handled the same. I do believe it should always be respectful.

I think it depends on who you're disagreeing with, Richie Alan Naggar ... and over what topic. If it's business, I try to remain calm and explain by viewpoint and needs ... and the whys, hows, etc. Never seems to go well if the situation is elevated and the heat is switched on. Does more damage than good ...

I stay calm and speak in a lower tone. If that does not work I usually say we agree to disagree.

I do not argue with people if I disagree. If it is a client and I believe they are making a huge mistake, I'll tell them my opinion( if they care to ask for it) and/or put my advice in writing, usually email. It is up to them what they choose to do. If it is just someone else, I would express my position, but will not try to argue or insist that i'm right. I'm open to other opinions and new knowledge( sometimes, I just do not know that my information is outdated or there is a better way:) As they say, we do not know what we do not know.
Unfortunately, it is one of the most prevalent - and damaging - tendencies in our culture: the need to be right.

Good morning Richie. I want to makes sure they know that I have heard them. That will be done by repeating what I heard them say.

Richie - In real estate, I never disagree with anyone, just look for alternative ways of doing things, or getting what my client wants.
If it is family, I just tell them flat out that they are wrong.

Richie Alan Naggar usually, I'll first find out what is something that is common or at least acceptable to me.
Say 'yes' to that first before making my own point. And of course, making sure that it appears as difference of opinion only.
No one is right or wrong, it's just this is what I believe - which is different than what you believe.
