The lender will request an extension to keep the contract current in order to close, so it's not up to the listing agent. (yes ridiculous)

Whats in the contract always rules.

I just closed a deal where we needed 6 extensions due to banks incompetence.  Seller originally wanted an additional $50K in order to give us an extension...of course we refused and got it anyway.

Not a penny more...so why do they ask? Because there are agents out there that think that any request must be met.  Not so.

Fannie mae is the big bully in the Real Estate market.. I can smell their properties 10miles away as they are always overpriced, languish in market and then reduce the price...Though I buy houses or sell houses from them I'm not a fan at all. Freddie Mac is better than them..

Yes, I have. They like to play hardball and wield their power. It makes for a very unpleasant situation.

Yes, several times but they do anyway. I don't know why Fannie Mae feels the need to appear difficult.  Closing on one today where Fannie Mae is the seller and they had to extend the closing date. Hold up was the attorney Fannie Mae was using and encouraged the buyer to use, was not allowed to do business with our lender. And, that is usually the case; something Fannie Mae refuses to do or has done to cause a delay.
