Michael - If you go to open houses, you need to be so respectful of the agents time and their primary objective.
I have brought some goodies for the agents and they were appreciative. Sometimes you go to an open house and there is no one there and the agent is thrilled to talk to some to help pass the time (happens more often in winter on colder days). If there was someone there, I would generally drop off the goodies (w/ a card/bag w/ our logo) and politely leave saying I wanted to respect their time.
Sometimes, it would be someone I would know and if there was someone there and they weren't busy, they would tell me to wait and we would chat until the next potential buyer came in.

Hi Michael -- I have had home inspectors drop by an open house and hand me a card and I don't mind. I think it shows they have initiative but I would be annoyed if they stayed too long or were obnoxiously soliciting for business -- that would be tacky. A short hello and a follow-up note or email would be appropriate in my opinion.

only if they are interested in buying!!!! why do they need to be there...to solicit future business?? that's one way to never get called, in my opinion....

Michael Thornton if the home inspector is around (and needed) to answer some of the questions from guests, it's fine.

That's never happened. Do you mean they're there with potential buyers? In which case I'd be happy to have them.

Good morning Michael. Absolutely, if they are interested in purchasing the property that I am offering.
Make it a great week!

It could make the selling agent nervous if you are poking around at an open.

I don't think I would. If you mean to solite business I'd rather have them make an appointment at my office.

I get along well with inspectors in my area, but I don't see why they would attend my open house. They are typically very busy during the work week that they probably would want to spend time with their family and friends instead.

I would say only of they want to purchase it. Other than that, as a listing agent no.

I don't care who shows up. I have no way to screen people and don't discriminate. The home inspector might be a buyer or know someone looking for a similar house.

No. Open houses are for prospective home buyers and prospective home sellers who want to be familiar with the market.
On the other hand, I would welcome a preferred home inspector as a sponsor of a broker open. In our market, broker opens are usually on Tuesdays at lunchtime.
