Michael - I'm not sure the original intent was communicated well. Nonetheless, it's a place to where I can quickly stop and check out questions and answers that vary in perspective and range from thoughtful to silly.

The world is a big place -- there's a place for everything.

No, I think that it is exactly what was intended, much less about answering questions and more a way for us to have quick interactions, much like facebook and addicting too just like facebook.

I like the quick exchange of ideas.  If someone thinks a question is silly, they do not need to engage.  As for piggy points?  If a person is that much in need of points, who am I to say they shouldn't ?

I personally do not see the public coming here to ask questions of the members. (other than the Spammers who are like Ninjas and can find their way anywhere!)

I think it's not a "point thing"....it's 100 points.... I think many of the questions are legitimate and worthy of an answer....some are foolish and others should not be written on this platform....

I never participated when Q&A first started years ago so I don't know how it originally was intended to be.  However, right now it seems to work well.  Questions are posed and many answers are provided.  There is interactivity between many members and it helps build the AR community.

I agree with Bob that it has become what members want it to be. It may morph into many forms along its path.

Real Estate Law From A Practical Perspective

I wish I could find the time to write a blog post every day. I actually compromise by doing a "quickie" Q&A and forego the points even though a lot of my content gets replicated by others into posts (others have said the same thing). For me, I need to take time to develop and write a post - I don't use ghost written content or other's ideas.

'Quick' points, 10 at a time? I'm sure there's a daily max on that, too, but not sure what it is.  I don't think it's as much of a problem as some of the 'point gathering' comments I've seen, Michael Thornton

I think some members use this section as intended, others just obviously have nothing better to do.  Many are obviously point grabs or killing time, I can't figure out which.

i think your question, and the answers that followed, are proof that it isn't a waste of time. you got from a to z. i think a reader might peruse the gambit (big word for me) and ascertain the real meaning....of life :)

do i get more point for using words that i cant define? mike

No.

As you well know, most questions, (not this one) actually has merit and do add benefit for the one asking and the one responding.

Surely you can find a meaningful question other than beating the old and tired and boorish "POINTS" thing. Right?

I think I just got 10 maybe 6 or maybe 25 points. Yahoo!

I love it as a quick way to get random questions answered. I skip around until I find a topic that's interesting to me. There aren't enough points to be gained here to make it worth the time - and if you're just into it for the points, you'll be writing blog posts, not Q&As.

To an extent.  Relevant real estate questions make sense.  Asking me what I had for dinner is not appropriate and to me is just for grabbing points.  Same as wondering why something in AR isn't working.  Check out the AR FB page or send a question to support.  Chances of getting it resolved here are fairly slim.

I would LOVE a Q&A section for consumers to ask agents questions.  I think it would be a great lead generator if they could ask specific questions regarding a location they might be considering relocating to.
