Yes, I would like to report blog posts.  there are some that are spam and others that are plagiarized.  I doubt they could monetize it, though.

i am a bit lost, i guess i dont get the purpose of the blogs.. "

a personal website or web page on which an individual records opinions, links to other sites, etc. on a regular basis.
synonyms: blog · online journal/diary......

somehow to me, that just doesnt mean i should tell you about my new listing. NOW...maybe there is a section for that... but to my way of thinking it isnt the BLOG section
what do you guys and gals think?

Yes, think this would be a good choice, plus also the comments that have links to their blog posts or web sites!

No, I would not.

What amount of real estate content would be required to turn an ad into a real life exercise of analysis?

A homeowner needs me to sell their house. I have personally reviewed the home and have in depth personal knowledge of house and area.
The house is in disrepair but is in an exceptional location with tangible assets far different than neighboring homes.
The analysis provided views the home from an investment perspective and a sweat equity opportunity.  Would this blog be an advertisement or a real life teaching moment which is what education is ALL about? And why should anyone trust a real estate agent to make this judgement?

But, if you insist, the one who clicks the 'flag' should be revealed. The assurance of exposure keeps folks much more honest in their intentions.

I see lots of plagarism and advertisements. Even comments have advertisements and links and this drives me crazy.

when I find a post like that or a profile like that I send it to support@activerain.com and it gets removed.  Easy peazy.

And why do you care if my listing posts looks like an ad to you?  Just move on.  My blog space is my own and I put all the ads in I want.

I would like to be able to report ... however, we would first need to clearly define what fits and what meets flagging guidelines.

David, it seems like an awful lot of the posts here - maybe most of them - are advertisments of some sort.  Blogging is a very effective form of advertising our listings, our local knowledge and our general expertise.  This one could be hard to police, so I'd say no.

But spam and plagarized posts are a whole other thing.  And whenever we see a questionable post or comment, there is a "Report" button, and the ActiveRain Smite Button could be put into action by someone in Seattle.

P.S.  OK, I just re-read your question, and to be clear, anyone can report any post by hitting the "Report" button.   It will be up to someone on the AR staff to make the decision to zap it or not.

David - ActiveRain is designed and intended for the real industry which includes REALTORS, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, staging, and other allied businesses.  People blog here to increase their business.  Each post is an advertisement in one form or another.  Why would people pay ActiveRain if their own posts advertising their own business in the manner that they choose are removed?

Get your checkbook out David, they cancelled that service a while ago because it was too expensive to staff it.

 And

a lot of our localism posts could easily be interpreted as advertisments for local businesses, events, etc

and then there are the real estate advertisments...
