I don't give a hoo-ha! As long as they are good at what they do!

Good morning Michael. Could care less, as long as the job is done right.

I have used both, and gender has nothing to do with it. Rather experience and training.

Contributions to stereotypes are not tax deductible. Would you prefer a male or female REALTOR®?

Doesn't matter, but I can acutally say I have never been to an inspection with a female inspector...

If they are competent and know what they are doing, it doesn't matter. All things being equal in terms of competent, though, I prefer a hunky male, though, if I get a vote.

It does not matter to me as long as they are expereienced and do not alarm the buyer as they go through the home. It is not always what they find, but how it is presented

Never saw a female home inspector, but I don't have a preference. Buyer can hire whoever they want.

I don't know of any female inspectors but like the rest of the comments made it really doesn't matter to me as long as they do it right and are qualified

Home buyers choose the home inspector. It makes no difference to me who they chooseas long as they are good and qualified.

I live on the Outer Banks of NC, and if you have visited here then you know that our coastal architecture is built to maximize views...so homes here are typically built within inches of the maximum height allowed. The Outer Banks almost always has a breeze blowing, to one degree or another. Imagine a woman having to get on the third floor of a house that's 35 ft in the air to inspect the roof, with the wind blowing. To my knowledge, there are no female home inspectors in our area, and this is perhaps the single biggest reason why.

So glad to read the comments of mature individuals who don't give a rat's patoot on male vs. female, but rather want someone who is competent! The inspection company I have used for 15 years hired a female inspector a couple of years ago.
My question is: Why aren't their more female home inspectors?

Wow. That's an odd question. The real question: What is the reasoning behind your question?
Unlike some of the other respondents, I have seen female inspectors although the majority are male. I see a lot of inspections done by female code inspectors in my area. And they are crackerjacks.

Michael Thornton No preference here as long as they know what they are doing. Haven't seen a female home inspector in my area though.

I have no preference with gender in this field or any other, it's about who can get the job done. My reasoning is based solely on performance!

Gender and nationality means beans if they are competent.

In real life, I had an inspector show up who was bound to a wheel chair.
Then there's the 'traditional' male home inspector.
Then there's the 'non-traditional' female home inspector.
Of the three, with no other data to rely upon, who do you think can get the job done, in reasonable time, on a 1954, 3600 square foot 2.5 story house?
The responses will differ based on if the writer is risk oblivious, risk aware or risk adverse.
Fortunately, the buyer is the one who hires the inspector, using whatever process they find convenient, leaving us to latitude to speculate rather than commit.

I must confess. I am a little annoyed that you would even ask the question. As long as the inspector is competent, why would it matter?

Male or female makes no difference to me as long as the "person" is qualified and competent.

She would have to be an exceptional inspector for me to use. I just never found one I wanted to try.
I admit however that I do prefer to work with male agents...none of the emotional crap. I don't want to "feel sorry for the seller".; Just the facts please.

I have never used a female home inspector for the simple reason that I did not know any women in the business. If they have the needed experience, there should be no reason for a preference.

Interesting, to my knowledge there are no female home inspectors in Oklahoma City and there should be.

I agree with Nina Hollander..I don't really give a hoot either. As long as they are professional, thorough and honest.

Have not happened to have used a female inspector, but like everyone else, competency is all that matters to me. I know a woman code enforcement officer for the city, and she is great. I rely on her for a lot of good information about codes, etc.

It doesn't matter the gender, it is the quality of their inspection and how they work with my buyers!

The sex does not matter and in my area they are mostly male inspectors anyway. I just want someone that does a good job and doesn't blow the sale all to pieces.
