I've always stayed for 10 years and I selected an agency that was at the bottom of the barrel.... last place on the list.... agents who barely had a pulse....it was a nice challenge to bring every one of them to the top of the marketplace...position #1 and distant from #2 in ranking.... this is my last stop now.

The most recent move was about a month ago but I moved due to the drive time. It was 45 minute drive to my old KW office. My new KW office is less than 10 minutes.

If an agent leaves its usually because of the belief that things will change if you go to another office. If you take your same bad habits no matter where you go you will not be successful! I never take it personally if an agent leaves to open their own office or leave for a larger office, smaller office or to go on their own. I wish them well and know that one day I may do a transaction with them and I like to think there were no hard feelings either way.

First and foremost, it was usually due to dis-satisfaction with management or management changes that impacted the organization in a way I didn't like.

The spiraling bad reputation of my former Brokerage had me in need of making a decision to move. Driving home from interviewing my current company, I discovered my Brokerage office building for sale with no notice to any of the salespeople under that roof. That forced my hand the very next morning and it is a decision I've never look back on but wished I'd made sooner!

I left and made the decision to work for myself. Funny but even in an office you work for yoursel as sll agents are independent contractors. The old big name companies like Coldwell banker , Century 21, Baird and Warner, are small in comparison to @ Properties . But @ Prooerties is small in comparison to Zillow and Trulia, and Reaktir.com. When you walk into most offices it's almost like walking into a morgue as knowbody is there. All you need is a remote office these days!

I have changed 3 times in 19 years --- first one my broker did not stand up for me with issues with the front desk, second one shut down her company, and third one because it took 2-3 weeks to get paid after a closing, and was never available when I needed him. I own my own now!

Evelym.
We moved twice and eventually opened our own. The first time, the broker in the company was distracted with her personal life, and she wanted Ron to take over (he is a broker). That is not what he wanted to do.
The second time we were lured by someone who was starting his own firm. He offered us an amazing split, and an office closer to home. It did not work out, as he started competing with us, and was jealous of our success.
Then we opened our own firm, and peace and affluence reigned. A

We loved being with KW, but they closed all of their offices in the city of Chicago and we wanted to be in a downtown office so we can get to it easily when necissary.

Lack of integrity from the broker I was working for... I find that rampant in our area... That's why I've switched brokers... It's a big part of the reason realtors are ranked below lawyers in public trust... I know tons of realtors who really dislike the company and or manager they work for but are afraid to make the change... I feel so bad for those agents... It's hard working for a company you don't like, trust me, changing brokers is NOT a big deal...

I recently changed for more opportunity, more freedom and better training…basically a better chance for personal and professional growth.

I really feel like a lot of the time the only reason to open your own business is because it burns in your heart and is your passion and you must do it or else you'll feel incomplete. If you do anything for any other reason in business, you will lack a little bit of edge, ya know?

This is a great question I wanted to be closer to home, do my own thing and get paid more. Also I liked the fact that the broker and principle had a successful partnership for 13 years. In this world of real estate that said a lot to me. I got all of the above

I had a better opportunity such as management or to be bought out of management. I have never left for a higher commission split but know agents that have. If I was unhappy I wouldn't hestitate to leave or at least explore the options.

I've considered it but have never left my brokerage of 12 years. The owner of my company/franchise works tirelessly to add value to our office; brings in speakers; and knows all 200+ of us by first name. Pretty hard to beat that. If I could continue with everything he provides, but reduce my monthly fee that would be perfect.

I changed a lot in the early part of my career....mostly due to commission splits and being heavily regulated in how I ran my business.

Lately, in some areas, it is because brokerages themselves are being purchased or merged. One colleague has had to swith three times in the past year for this reason- sometimes agents are bargained like poker chips.

I haven't changed, but one of the agents that moved to my brokerage did so because she was part of a team and she couldn't get her own branding. Each transaction was under the "ABC Team" so she could never get her name out there.
