No, I would buy them a gift, take them out for dinner but work is work. Other professions, doctors or lawyers usually do not discount their work. Good question Debbie, I work very hard and are worth every penny.

Let's look at this way: you work in Corporate America and do your job VERY well and attract even more business/clients. Do you expect your salary to be reduced or would a BONUS be more appropriate?
I had one Seller once mention that because his home sold in one day that I should lower my commission. My response was we should be discussing how much my BONUS should be because I did my job so very well!

I just got two listings with the same client with the strong hope of eight more. I took less than a full full commission. In the DC metro area two numbers appear most frequently as the commission. In most cases I insist (?) on he Hightower number but with this client I took the lower number quite happily

I think that would just cause problems. Treat everyone the same and nobody can complain.

my clients would never ask..... and I would always offer right away so they didn't have a weak moment to ask....that would make me mad and the relationship would suffer from my response!!!!

Debbie Reynolds I worked with an investor who purchased several properties. He made money and I made money.

I've been with the same doctor for 26 years and my choices are pay me now or get billed, never a discount. I'm of the same mindset!

Hmmm, real estate BOGO plans. (way too costly)
Maybe a loyalty plan, get nine punches on the card and the 10th transaction is FREE!
To be honest, that sounds like a great idea.

Good morning Debbie. On the mortgage side, we can't which makes no sense what so ever, as I would do it if I could.

Yes, our commissions are negotiable and not set firm; every client has a right not negotiate it with any broker.

Hi Debbie;
I have a father and son who have completed 18 transactions with me over the years...and, they introduced me to a friend of theirs who is a builder, who I have completed another 6 transactions with.
I freely give them a discount on the sale of their properties, not on the purchase side.

I give my mega repeats the referral fee I'd give another agent. I usually just take it off the commission.

I will not let a repeat client lose a deal. That's how I spell returning clients.

No, never, not a chance...they don't ask either because they value my expertise...or maybe just because they already know I am not a pushover, and will say no.
Giving away part of your paycheck is a big reason that consumers don't respect agents.
Have you ever heard of an attorney reducing his fee the more his services are needed?
Please stop it!!!
Eve
Ps: I would never want anyone to try to negotiate for me if they cannot keep their own commission in tact.

Debbie, it all depends. My accountant, attorneys and eye doctor have given me a discount - loyal customer. As a general rule I'd say no. But there are exceptions to every rule. Again, it depends.

I would say Yes if he has bought 2 or more homes through me. I had 1 person who brought a home in the subdivision I worked in and in 6 months later brought the same home but this one had a basement.

No. My experience is that long term clients seldom ask for discounts. They receive more than full value.
I have given referral fees to clients who are also real estate brokers.

No, does your attorney, dentist, or any other long term service provider give you a discount because you have loyal to them?

I have discouned my fees for repeat clients. For me, I am hppay to reward loyalty.
