Like John McCormack - I am very happy owning my own little brokerage. I don't have to share my commission, nor do I have to live by someone else's rules.

I joined for the Managing broker - actually I followed him when he left the company we were with before KW - then he left KW and I stayed. too many changes in too few years.

I get perks. Free use of gym, shower. No printing cost, great split, free desk fee. 

My broker is an attorney and advice is often helpful.

Commission split.  New we have been bought out and will change in about 60 days.  The company that bought us out has an even better split...

Way back when I started the managing broker took me under her wing and taught me so much.

It was the location for me as my office is less than 10 minutes from my home.  My old KW office was 45 minutes.

When I just got my license I worked for my former broker because he had a great reputation and he offered me a paid position as his Assistant Property Manager. He taught me everything he knew and then sold me his brokerage!!

It was all about the commission split.

Yes, to all three + the RE/MAX name in and of itself.

I started my own company because my builder didn't like my old broker and was going to hire a new agent.

They bought my company and hired me to be on the management team. Gave up management about 5 years ago and happy just selling.

Yes, all of the above.  It was the Managing Broker (My wife).  It was the Brokerage. (It was my wife''s brokerage) and yes, the Location was close to home.  (It was my wife's home....and mine!).

I had to get out of the last office I was in. I went out of desperation. Five years later I realized it was a very good decision for me. 

It was the least expensive.  I have been there my entire 8 year career, I learned as I went.  In the beginning it would have been nice to be coached how to earn more business, but some of us figure it out on our own :)  Since then, I have been recruited by just about every larger brokerage in town, stayed where I am as I realize the grass will not be greener, just more expensive, now that I figured out how to run my business.

they were the "new kids" on the block and needed all the help they could get....that's right up my alley!!!

Location and reputation.

I get left alone to make my money. Favorable splits. Not in a training brokerage, rather a brokerage for experienced agents. I am not responsible for the brick and mortar, insurance, government oversite and regulation that comes with owning a brokerage.

Serious due diligence and comparison shopping, followed by a team vote.  Been here since April 2012, one of our former team members is now managing broker, and we are very satisfied!
