Hi David;
It depends on the visitor.
If this is a buyer who is interested in purchasing a home on the Outer Banks, then no, they aren't interested in the latest happenings on the beach.
However, once they buy, the focus shifts, and they DO want to know where the local's favorite hang outs are, the 'secret spots' we visit, how we get around traffic during the summer months, what festivals are the best and when they are scheduled....once someone buys, the focus becomes one of feeling a part of the community that they now own in. Clients ask me all the time what's the latest news, or ask for a recommendation on a great restaurant...
So it depends on the visitor.

I do not throw all that stuff into my website. I understand why people add that stuff but it's not for me. I stick to real estate content.

On the listing side I'm primarily an agent. On the buyer's side, I think it's important to not just tell clients about homes but to help them learn about the lifestyle (shopping, dining, recreation, etc) that living in the area offers.

People want to get to know you and want to know you know about the area as well as real estate. That is proven by the questions buyers ask when they get to town to find houses.

I live in a rural town with a Chamber of Commerce. We have may be 3,000 homes with 500+ brokers/realtors. I found out 25 agents affiliations on the Chamber of Commerce roster. 1 out 3 COC member is a realtor.
