Typically I send them a cake in a tin with my logo/contact information on it from Penn Street Bakery with a note telling them it was "sweet" doing business with them and wishing them many "sweet" years in their homes. At closing I give them a silver key chain with a house on it. That way they got to think about me everyday.

It always varies by client and what fits them best. Home warranty or gift card to Lowe's for that new home buyer who may be low on funds; custom painted watercolor of the home for the person who has everything and would appreciate something like that; catered lunch delivered on moving day, especially for young couples whose friends are helping; etc It all just depends! It may be a gift certificate for a round of golf at the new 55+ community into which they are moving...the possibilities are endless.

Always a cutting board and a Cutco knife. Depending on the price they may even get a set of knives. Of course the knives have my name and number along with the Realtor logo engraved on them.

I always like to give a thoughtful gift to my clients when they buy a home. I do not think it is necessary but shows appreciation for their business. Before I became an agent, I have purchased many homes over the years. One agent handed me the keys for a home vs. an agent had dinner delivered to our family on our first night in our new home. Guess which agent was used to sell that home and purchase another home when we moved?

I keep it simple. A frame picture of the new home with the date. Very little expense and time.

Jane,
We were speaking at the then Prudential office meeting at NAR, and when this subject came up, one of the agents said: "They give me a gift!". Does your attorney give you gifts?
If you insist on giving gifts, give something that you will be remembered for like a subscription of some kind. A

It depends on their needs/likes. If it is a first time home buyer getting a fixer upper, its typically a basket with a lowes gift card and painting supplies etc. Or I learned the wife loved cows so I got her a ceramic cow that said home sweet home . It varies each time for me, but I typically raid hobby lobby! I always include a key hanger for their new keys!

I like to give those atomic clocks that tell the indoor/outdoor temperature plus humidity, moon phase, ect. Although more and more people have them. I'm trying to think of something else that everyone likes.

It depends on the client. I like to ask them what they would like, and most often it is to a home improvement company.

Thanks. This has given me some ideas. I usually spend enough time with buyers to easily be able to give something thoughtful, but sometimes it happens so quickly (I LOVE those) that you really don't know. So, for those times I will refer to this post.
