Yes. I've replaced small items for out of town / state sellers. Also always help the elderly with things that they can't do. It's the little things and why not pay it forward?

Yes, I had a older couple and it was no big deal. I do not do manual labor but will reach out and help someone that reminds me of my parents who should not be on a ladder.

I try to stay out of the repair business because of the liability. Hire a handyman is the best way

I do it all the time. When I drive to the appraisal inspection for my sellers, I stop by Home depot to buy those alarms. I also have tools in my car to install them. I do it~ small price to avoid stress for everyone.

Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are great gifts to give to your buyers, after closing.

Rosemary Rizzitello I have never installed any. Usually, it is on the home inspectors list of things to discuss.

Rosemary, we are just about to do so as the client has purchased two smoke alarms and we need to find out the best place to install them according to local code.

I have not needed to do it but would do if necessary.

It is required by law here and we are always sure they are installed when we list a property.

No - but I've referred them to a contractor or handyman depending on the need

Rosemary -- I have a service that I recommend that can install/replace those items. I'm not the most handy person and we're constantly reminded about liability in our business. It's best handled by a professional -- even things that seem pretty simple.

Selling in a a resort community many of our sellers are out of the area. We often help them out by buying new batteries or the actual detector (the minimum standard just changed here) and/or replacing them. We only draw the line if it involves actually mounting something to the wall or climbing ladders or wiring (in the case of hard wired units) then we have a very reasonable handyman we recommend.

my team members will help with that if the seller has already moved out....

Costco 4 pack for like $25, install one in each bedroom and can come back on FHA apprasial if not present. Yes, I have helped a client before this this chore :)
