I would say yes as we have attended many open houses when we are visiting a resort area. It got us to thinking maybe we should buy a vacation home.

Open houses work when the open house PURPOSE aligns with the attributes of the real estate.
Now, the REAL question is, "What does WORK mean?"
Until you identify the purpose, 'work' has no meaning.
Florida, especially the coastal areas are 2nd home environments where nearly 60% of houses sold are cash purchases.
One such purposed open house resulted in a few people asking me to contact them.
I not sure how you spell success, but this outcome aligns with the purpose intended.
