I have fired a few clients.  Sometimes due to loyalty, others due to amount of time they took and how they acted.  One client would call me 15-20 times a day - by the time I was done with the sale I made $1000 or a little over.  They lied about the things they had done to the house.  I was the Agent acting as intermediary for buyer and seller.  I had to give to make the deal work.  I wished them well but decided it wasn't worth the time to continue the relationship.

Only once in 26 years. They would receive the same lisitings I was sending them from another agent, sometimes before I sent it sometimes after. They said whoever sent it fisrt they would see it with. The agent who sold them the new house would not be the agent to list their house, it would go to the other agent. Too many months went on like this and I wanted commitment. Too many hours were spent looking and sending listings. I told them I will not work with them any longer.

My time was better spent with my loyal clients

Notaries are public officials who must serve all of the public.  So, I may have to briefly tolerate a grumpy person, but not someone who is asking for an illegal act, such as backdating a document.

I fire, clients for

1) unethical, working with other agents, I do not mind a second opinion but working with another agent at the same time

2) Not giving all information in order to list or help purchase a home, not  properly producing all information  so escrow/lenders all involved can complete the sale.

Yes, a few.  Bottom line, I will not tolerate "mistruths" and will walk from someone if I find they have not fully disclosed information to me or a lender, or ask me to do or say something unethical.  I will not tolerate that with friends or customers/clients.

Usually, it's 'pre-fire' for me with listing clients. If they're so set upon a crazy price, I defer but try to leave 'friendly'. You know that they'll find *somebody* to take the listing at almost any price/terms.  I've actually picked up a couple of those listings when the first one expired.

I fire unrealistic clients that will not listen to me on how to bid.  Low ball offers and putting in bids based on expensive things that buyers want to do that are not in line with current market prices will never get a home.  I look up their names in public records 6 months later and they never have bought a house.
