A bombshelter. Buyers thought it was neat and planned on keeping it, let the kids use it. Intersting question!

How about a dead body? I was representing a buyer of a rural property and during one of our inspections we discovered that the seller had fell into a well and died. Needless to say it was quite traumatizing but the buyers moved forward. However the county and state got involved and the well was condemned.

Paul, that is quite a find. I have not had anything that interesting, however, one of the local inspectors did find a hand grenade and had to stop the inspection and wait for the bomb squad to come dispose of it.

Responding to an old Q -
Once we did find a major potential structural issue and buyers decided to walk away from the sale.

Well, I can not compete with that...A 12 foot python about 10 years ago is the best I can do.

I was with the inspector and the Buyers when I discovered a coiled up wire tucked away behind the microwave and under the cabinets. Come to find out, it was a live wire that was not capped off. The Buyers still bought the house after they had the sellers fix it.

Well I can't match that find. I did have an inspector find several snake skins under the house while inspecting. He wasn't under there long but it did freak him out.

On another Occasion
I had a Seller who did a home inspection on his rental that his tenant had just moved out of. The tenant said he had a couple of things left in the garage but we were free to inspect the house.
It was a mess. The inspector was checking a loose floor board and uncovered 3 pipe bombs, a couple of hand guns and what appeared to be flash/bang grenades. We got out and called 911...

Pot farm in the basement on one, and a loaded assault rifle stuffed in the attic, of a home that had been broken into.

That was a chunk of cash. I wouldn't mind seeing the seller get that money back.

Paul, I wish I had a good one for you but just plain old mundane normal stuff.. I did find a HUD home where someone was living unapproved of course in the attic but I found it and not during an inspection. I am not sure that supposed home ever sold!!

A flooded basement can be a major challenge. I have not yet found bags of cash.

HA! An 8 foot black snake curled in the basement crawl space. Then in the home inspection, we found that the attick was full of them.
