yes, and that was one of my reasons for creating a team.... If I'm going to refer, I want to get credit via a team concept...then we all gain strength....it worked!!!

Yes.  I work 7 days a week but can still only be in\at one place at one time.  I am mostly a buyer's agent, spend a lot of time viewing homes with clients, in over 400 properties a year.   Referral fees are nice

In my area? No. In times that I am very busy I tend to do less advertising, blogging, etc. At no point do any of my clients suffer.

Slightly outside of my area? All the time.

Yes, I stick to what I do best and refer the rest.

I,m too busy for more business is my line when solicitors call. They don't know how to respond. LOL

Yes, it happens regularly; then I regret it when the other agent can't for some reason get the client sold. UGH!

Hi Debbie -- gratefully, yes.  Sometimes it is a matter of co-listing, other things it may be a referral between agents on the listing or selling side.   

I've had that happen occasionally and will refer out the business that is least desirable to me in terms of location or price point. I like what Annette Lawrence said about a referall network and will put together one for different locations.

From Sarasota to Tallahassee, I have a network of agents to refer folks who determine Palm Harbor is not for them. We generally swap a referral both directions once a year.

The first referral is generally at a low price point and without a referral fee. If no reciprocity occurs, I find someone willing to play ball.

Debbie - I do not refer any business within my area. At my brokerage, we all help one another out, and that way we can still work with multiple clients without having to refer them out to someone they do not know, or may not want to work with. So, yes, I may have another agent in my brokerage show my buyer clients a few homes on a day that just doesn't work out for me, but they are still my clients, and I will still write up an offer and work it to closing.

I do not, but I'd like to!  Realistically, with the way my team is set up, I could probably handle 20+ files/month without going too insane.  I rarely come close to that number in a given month.

I will be glad when I get to that point where I have so much business I have to give some of it away.  Hey!  Maybe that will be my 2015 Challenge!

It's not that I have so much business that I need to refer it; it's that I work in a specific area and anything that comes to me that is not in my area I refer.

Yes sometimes when too many come in at once, but nobody takes care of your lead like you do.
