Let's start with the benign myth that you "own your own business" when you work for a broker. Any career where you can be removed from your job by a supervisor or manager is not owning your own business. Regardless of what any franchise marketing pitchman tells you, you and your work activities are supervised and you answer to the designated broker/manager and to the Company.

Hi Charles --- even if we work under a brokerage and may not be "in charge" we can still operate as our own business albeit with stricter guidelines than exist if we truly owned the business.
I find that our brokerage is careful to use words like "suggest" "recommend" and the like when they are presenting marketing concepts but remain(as I believe they should) steadfast when it comes to procedural, contract and legal issues. I don't have a particular problem with that. And if I did -- I always have the option of leaving.

The designated Broker controls your actions when necessary for the sake of the company so I have no problem there, however, another associate has no jurisdiction in the matter Charles Ross.

I had a Agent who was mad that I had a listing in a bidding war ask who is your QB? I simply stated you're speaking with him. Man did his attitude change for the better!

A broker with such mentality will be presiding over an empty corral.
Another agent attempting the same, will learn what poking the bear means.
