lol... I had someone take a smoke break in the backyard of a house I was showing. Then they had the nerve to through the cig in the pool after they were done. And guess what I had to do for the next ten minutes? First, tell them I would meet them at the next property. Then fish out a cig with a palm branch, in which was all on the owners video surveillance camera. The listing agent at least thanked me for cleaning up my clients mess! To top off the wonderful agent duties, of many, my buyers asked what took me so long to get to the next property. I just smiled and told them I had something that held me up. Who doesn't love their cash buyers?

I don't drive buyers around, they drive themselves. My job is to get them the best deal, so...smoke away, in your own car.

If they need to smoke they let me know and I let them smoke. Not in any house being shown. Outside ussually near the car.

Absolutely. I do not want them smoking in my car or in the homes. So as often as they need one, I will accommodate.

Sure, but not on a property they're touring...too much can go wrong!

I actually had a person light up an e-cigarette the other day that smelled like peaches. She asked after she blew the first billow of steam into the front seat. Then she said would you prefer mesquite, it smells like BBQ... (Weird)

Paul, I haven't had this come up in ages. I know almost nobody who smokes.

Thankfully this has never come up when I was driving, because I have a difficult time with smoky clothes and belongings in my car. Other than that factor, if there is time, I'm okay with it. If I am driving and they ask, I don't have a poker face, so my guess is, they would not pursue the question. LOL

Nope, then they smell like cigarettes when they get back into my car. Yuk. If they insist, they only get a couple of drags in before we are off, OR they can drive their own car.

Sure, I'm not without mercy. I've recently had the smoker drive seperately in his own car while the wife, baby & I drove a different car. It doesn't bother me as I used to be a smoker myself.
NEVER any smoking in a listing.

Smokers are always welcome to drive themselves. I can only think of one time where I was forced to have that conversation. The Guest of a Buyer riding in my vehicle asked me if I mind if they smoke? I simply told them lovingly I'm not a smoker, and as a kid I risked getting slapped down by my parents for harassing them about smoking around me. I gave them such a hard time about it, I guilt-ed them into quitting. Next I asked the guest would you like for me to go all the way there, talking about life's first prize is great health? The Guest never lit up a cigarette around me.

I have never been asked that question! Wow, I guess I would...don't want them smoking in my car.

I found this to be an interesting question and enjoyed reading the posts. I know very few smokers so have not had any experience with this situation.

Now that medical and recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado, do buyers want a marijuana break?

I don't have smokers as clients! Most are relocating and want me to drive as they are unfamilar with the area.

I have had worse. I had somebody go into the bathroom for 10 minutes!!!

I gave my buyers today time for a smoke break while we were out;) Keeps them happy and no smoke in my car!

I do not drive them around either- they follow me or just meet me there. They can talk and I can catch up on calls and breath deeply!!!

Giving a client a smoke break is something I can't say I have ever done.

I rarely drive buyers around. I have learned they focus more on the neighborhoods when they drive. As for smokers, I have not had a buyer who smokes in years!

I have never had a smoke ride in my car. Usually buyers want to use their own car.
2,295,437
Believe it or not, it's never been an issue, Paul. I think smokers often want to follow in their own rig - for obvious reasons. Fine by me. ;)

I'm not an agent, but I would have to think you would have to accommodate your clients. Not allowing them to smoke in homes and in your car is pretty reasonable, so I would assume a break would have to be made time for!

I haven't had many smokers, but the ones I have had seem to fit in a smoke break. They are polite about it and usually it's in between houses and my car. If they don't actually smoke in the car, it's not a smell that lingers after they leave your car at the end of the day.

Paul , i seldon drive my client they usually follow me ,but if i know my client is a smoker i will not drive them on my car ;i am a non smoker and dont like the smell of it ; even if they dont smoke in the car the car will end smelling like ashtray because they smell like smoke, no offence to smoker ;have a great day Paul

Most smokers know they need to drive their own car.
The real challenge to me would be if they were in my car and pulled out one with a blue tip.
I don't know what I would do.
3,417,759
I havent had to deal with anyone ready to escape the car for one. I think the only smoker i had in recent memory would go hide behind a tree to smoke at every home we got to.
5,428,323
It is so rare I have a smoking client that I don't really remember what I do. Typically, they will have a quick smoke outside once we've left a home.

Paul Henderson just thought about it - and surprisingly, hardly any of them smoke - at least while at showing!

Paul, I just don't even give it as an option. The smoke stays on the clothes and then you are trapped with that smell inside your vehicle. Not for me.
403,357
If they want to stop and step outside for a smoke, that's okay with me if we're not pressed for time.
