This could be for one of 2 reasons: 1) you comment is below the 50 character minimum or 2) you already got points for 20 comments for the day.  The "day" is based on PST.

Yes, if your comment or answer or blog post  is too short, you don't get points.

As for points as far as I remember: it is 10 words or 50 characters.

Here some rules:

  • 200 points for each blog post
(Max 20 per week) (50 word minimum required)

  • 25 additional points when post is added to channels with a topic

  • 25 points for each comment
(Max 20 Per Day) (Comments on your own posts excluded, but you get 6 points for each comment, even yours).
  • etc.

Shuchi Agrawal - you have the answer from Dan Tabit .

However, I wonder there is something different.

Check your points tomorrow as I have shared in my post. I am sure you should receive 25 points for leaving 20 comments every day.

Thanks Dan Tabit for yopur answer.  I saw that link and today I posted about 12 comments but only received credit for 5... I guess I'll shoot an email to support and see what I may be doing wrong.

Shuchi, they may have added a new rule with the recent update, that you have to comment on someone's blog from Indiana to start getting credit for all your comment points.  ^_~

If you have just a couple words in a comment, you won't get points for it, so make your comments on other peoples blogs at  least 10 words long.

Shuchi sometimes I have noticed glitches where I received no points for many posts and it was not because of too few words or going over the 20 posts/day. There were a couple of days in a row where that happened.

10 words or you get nothing.  Or if you go over 20 comments in a day the rest fet no points.

It appears that you have received the answers you need. It would be nice if ActiveRain would post a new blog with a full disclosure of the current points system.

Shuchi, it has to do with the number of words in the comment - actually the total number of letters and spaces.  You need the equivalent of 10 5-letter words to be awarded points.

There is a 20 comment limit for points each day. And I believe you also have to have a certain number of words in a comment to get points.
