That's why I don't work for a large RE brokerage. They only care about numbers and not helping the agents. There are a few exceptions to that.

Why would you stay with a Brokerage when you do not get training or mentoring? Something is wrong with this picture.

Larry - I was about to suggest that you try a Keller franchise and I am horrified to realize that you are with Keller now. I think there are resources within Keller and they should be available to you through your team leader and a productivity coach. If you are not gettinng the mentoring to which you are absolutely entitled, you might consider a different office or MAPS coaching. Do you have a productivity coach in your office? Your broker is not going to be the one to provide those resources, but you should do Ignite again and BOLD as soon as it is given. And please feel free to call me - I am just down the road in Rockville.

Change companies immediately. Learning as a new agent is so important. Go to a Keller Williams, or another big name company that have excellent training programs. Ask before you change

Depends on the brokerage, most will work out some sort of deal with you.

Large, franchise-style brokerages in general seem to have this problem. Agents have told me they've encountered little or no broker supervision, pressure to sell without adequate training, and an emphasis on spending your money in-house on exorbitant desk fees, annual Company conventions, signage, wearing apparel and other expenses that bleed you dry. I know why new agents start their careers by chaining themselves to one of these firms, but I don't understand why anyone would stay in such a poor environment for very long.

Larry, that is a very unfortunate situation and the management team should understand that THEIR success depends on the success of their agents! I would sit down with them and level with them about your concerns; and in the mean time find some veteran agents who can help you and mentor you.

Yes there are coaching and mentoring services for real estate agents and you can Google them and find all types. I also would question if you are not getting help at your brokerage that there may be another one where help is available.

Since the other comments already suggest you should change companies I add that if you decide not to find a better company for training then you need read books on best practices and also sign up for training (Brian Buffini is one good source but there are others).

Russ Ravary ~ Metro Detroit Realtor call (248) 310-6239 - Larry Adams's profile says he's with Keller Williams. Every brokerage even under the same name is different. Keller Williams generally has a good reputation, but it sounds like the one in question is lacking.

You deserve to be in a brokerage that provides you with the proper training. Some companies do a better job than others. I would interview with some new companies, and let them know you want a mentor. Your needs are understandable and most big names companies should provide that for you. If they don',t, move on to a company that does,

Your current brokerage may not be right for you. They knew you were new when they hired you. Did you ask about training? What did they say?
I can't see hiring an outside person when part of your commission is going to be paid to the broker who is failing to train you.
Consider interviewing with other brokerages that offer what you need.
Agents often think the brokerage with whom they affiliate will be in large part responsible for their success. They think that because it's usually pounded into their heads repeatedly by the brokerage that benefits from this thinking.
People hire people they like and trust. There are great agents and terrible agents at every brokerage. Choose the brokerage that offers what you need.
Attending classes at the board or lunch and learn events can also build your knowledge.
Good luck and lots of success to you!
