I am the "lead" on our site and people are beginning to become involved. It is another good idea if you are "farming" your own neighborhood.

We have it in our neighborhood and unfortunately it has become a site for people to complain and generally be negative to the point that people would be very inappropriate to each other. At first i thought it would be a good site to participate in but now I'm staying away from it.

Christina,
We were invited, and it did not seem that it was valuable, and I agree with Michael Jacobs .

Hi Christina -- I joined and there is some good information but overall it is duplicated from other sources which I already subscribe. I don't spend a lot of time there....just so much time in any given day.

Years ago I set up a "neighborhood' based on the elementary school where I used to live. It worked out well but was sort of a duplicate to another list that was available via Facebook. Overall, the service is useful. I recommend it.

I wrote a post about it about a year ago and have met several people I would not have otherwise met, what I really like about it is you can get quick responses to a number of things, for example, people that are in the area trying to scam us after a recent hail storm, who to watch out for and who has been honest and done great work.
I do get way too many emails form the site, but do tend to check in regularly. I think it is worth signing up for to see if it makes sense, I did get a listing and a buyer from the site.

I recently joined in my area. So far, it is pretty interesting. Neighborhood events, yard sales, lost dogs, lost chicken, mockingbirds keeping people up, recommendations for cleaning people, dentist, etc. Not sure what to do with it really.

I would like to know as well. I am very interested in it. It seems to offer alot of unique benefits.

I'm just looking to it, doing my research but from what I see this is a no brainer. It's the best price to reach so many neighborhoods each month and really get exposure. It might take time to get a listing but you are being seen by thousands every months.

I have had a very bad experience with Nextdoor.com. I will not recommend it to anyone in the Real Estate Industry.
After spending a lot of time building my neighborhood to over 350 members and establishing my presence there, Nextdoor announced that they are accepting PAID advertising. See the Blog post I made about it HERE.

just looking back over some old questions and answers, looks like you got some decent replies to this one.

I am in. I think it is very important to be connected in your community. I find it very beneficial to receive updates about local events, vendor advice, crime updates, etc.

Christina - I really do not see the value in it being an avenue to generating business. It just seems more like a place where neighbors can advertise a garage sale, babysitting requests, or complain about something. Very few people are participating in my area.

I am the founder of my area. I also have a facebook group for the same area. The FB group is growing 3-5 people a day with just a few signs out. Getting people on nextdoor is a little more labor intensive as you have to register and all that.

Good Morning and I don't know!!! Never been there yet, keep up the good Info and good luck with your business, E

I am a member of it in my neighborhood and use it to communicate about neighborhood events. Those that belong feel very exclusive and you have to have an invite. I like it and think it has a purpose.
