Blogging seems to be a good source that feeds all the rest.

I do have profile on all of them - and since all of them are free, why to limit to one?
However I use ActiveRain for my internet presence - and then spread the message to other platform.

Most of my time( at least for last year) I spent here, on Active Rain, I read thousands of blogs, listened tons of webinars, wrote few hundreds of posts. Would I call myself an expert? Not sure. But I definitely can give a few very good advice to AR new-bees:)

Matthew.
After spending time on social media since 2008, I would say, that I am not an expert on any of these platforms. Linked In is a good source of biz for us, and they keep changing to be more like Facebook. Facebook just changed a bunch of stuff, and I dislike the lack of privacy on the site. Several of the real estate related media are out of business.
I like Active Rain, am I an expert, and I don't really believe there are bona fide experts, because of the constant changes and the newness of this media. We are seeing social media fatigue on many levels and demographics. A.

I do not care to be an EXPERT in any social media platform. I pay experts to advise me. What I, as a real estate professional, want to be is EFFECTIVE.
As a small business owner, I want to be EFFECTIVE in those environments relevant to my business. Since YouTube, Zillow, Trulila, Active Rain, Realtor.com are NOT social media platforms, by default one must pay attention to the 800 pound gorilla in the kitchen...Facebook. (and every time you think you've got Facebook figured out, they rearrange the deck chairs.)
So, it may be more beneficial to actually focus energy on those things that have more consistency and do not require an over investment of time. That would be investing the intellectual energy to identify the right key words and phrases for your real estate market and being an expert on ad copy and ad-word campaigns.
