if we have a relationship and we are only looking at one I will meet them. Other than that always want to drive with a decison maker, even if they have a van full of car seats, I will have the wife or husband ride with me and alternate. Always trying to bond and listen and fill a need.

Depends on the number of houses and logistics...I have no objection to having them ride with me, it is a good time to hear their thoughts about each property and get more info.  On the other hand, if they want to drive separately, that is fine, too, although in our crazy traffic, most people would prefer to ride with me.  I find it is a good time to talk, and to reinforce once again the things we discussed in our initial buyer counseling session.

Here's an answer you'll love: it depends! I like to drive clients around if we will be looking at a critical mass of homes so we can discuss what we are seeing that day. But if it's a "one-off" showing in the middle of the day, say, I will meet them at the property as we are probably coming from different directions and going to different directions afterwards.

It really depends. Sometimes I've even ridden with the clients...like when they have a dog or a young child that needs a car seat. But I also like to play tourguide for those out of the area clients, and do the driving when I can.

If it is an out of town buyer I prefer to have them ride with me. If it is local people then we generally meet at the house.

It really depends on the situation. but most of the time for local buyers we meet first and then later at the homes they wish to tour. I almost always drive relocaiton buyers around so I can give them a more effective tour and better understand their needs. If it seems appropriate I ask their preferences.

I do prefer to meet them at the property( to come a bit earlier to turn the lights, open windows, etc.)

I prefer to meet at my office the first time and spend a little get to know each other time.  I like to have them in my car when driving around if possible.  After the initial meeting, if the location is not convenient for meeting at my office, I'll typically meet them somewhere public and switch to my car.

I will also hedge with the "it depends" answer. I find that 90% of the time clients prefer to drive themselve. I have no issue with this. It gives them the time they need to chat in privacy, which is very important. I don't want clients to feel uncomfortable or not allow them time to talk. Ultimately it is whatever the client wishes.

It depends on our respective starting points and the homes to be toured.  I prefer to have them in the car so that we can discuss homes between showings, so that I can better understand what their likes/dislikes are, and traffic can be a bear in Northern VA.  If they have small children that ride in installed car seats, they tend to want to follow in their vehicle.

Depending of the location and time, I would be flexible here. Initially, I prefer to meet them at the office and drive them in my car, though. At other times, I certainly ask their preference.

For safety reasons I prefer they follow me in their own car. Once I get to know someone, I don't mind driving them but I find they like to discuss their thoughts in private with their spouse or friend.

Michael,

It depends on the logisitics.  It is easier to have them meet you there, and when you are driving them, you can hear what their thoughts and impressions are. A

It depends.  Usually they drive separately, but I have had several buyers that don't have a car, so I will pick them up and drive them.

With first meetings I insist on office time first.  From there I like to have them in my car for building a relationship and better understanding their wants and needs.  Listening is easy when driving.  I agree with Jeffery that after having the relationship meeting at a single property is often times more convenient for both of us.
