Doyle,
We have had some success with Linked In, traffic to our site, and a few clients. So there is a return on investment (time), and I spend the equivalent amount of time to return there. A

Hi Doyle,
LI is 100% free, so why not add it? I'm a ghostwriter and I've been writing for many of my clients on LI, to inform their followers, expand their leadership and grow their connections.
Some folks like a 5 minute "I'm still here" update, others do a ten minute "comment on someone else's blog post" still others like to have an 800+ word blog post done to improve their thought leadership position among the Richard Bransons of the LI world.
I've also found that the LI blogs worked differently than Bloggr or WordPress. When posting via LI, it will rank much higher to your network of LI followers than if it is merely linked through a third party site. Also, the editors seek a specific type of blog to highlight, so if you nail that part, more folks will see your article.
My clients have seen a huge increase in followers and connections, but usually more so if they are actively blogging (or using a ghostwriter like me!). Two of them also found work via LI this fall, using an engaging profile and connecting with a variety of people from the site.
LinkedIn also ranks very high on the Google search engine. If you're a local agent, basing your business marketing platform on your name, LI is the way to go to round out your profile to be sure you land on Page One of Google. No one ever bothers to search on page two!
LI can be a useful tool for professionals but only if you engage at a higher level and seek to offer value to your network. For example, few people appreciate a hard sell of a house on LI, but will be very interested in how you are running your business and your business strategy. Adding your thoughts to a group discussion also ranks higher.
Connect with me on LI today and I'd be happy to help!

I'm on Linked In forever ( actually made 10 of most connected members there in one year), but I don't do much there. If you plan to add LI, plan to spend some time there posting, commenting, emailing, maybe visiting their meet-ups( same as here, but connect to the professionals in all fields).

I would add LinkedIn. It's another social networking platform that is professional. Just make sure you have time to be active, I find that having many social networking sites can be time consuming. Schedule your time wisely when it comes to maintaining your sites.

LinkedIn is an excellent platform for business referrals that can be given and received. So, I would recommend it.

Yes, get yourself on. But spend a few hours and do it correctly. Better to have a good profile than no profile, and better to have no profile than a terrible profile.

Doyle Lee Austin Davison Iv - the question should be, why should not I add LinkedIn to your social media marketing in 2015?

Yes. Again, not sure if I had anyone say to me "Hey I saw you on LinkedIn" but I am 100% sure some have validated my credentials by seeing my profile.

If you have some extra time, yes, I would do it. I have gotten leads there (from people I know, past customers). It is not very time consuming either. But, it has not been a lot of business.

You should already have a LinkedIn presence. If not, do not delay this decision. The same is true for Pinterest.

I figure it can't hurt. I see quite a few of my past clients follow me on it; lots of people endorse me; when I post to LinkedIn I'm always being asked to link with someone else--so long term you just never know who might become a source of business. It doesn't take a lot of time to manage the profile/page.

I agree with all of the responders that LinkedIn is a valuable social media site to be on and involved in. I go on every morning and wish Happy Birthday and Congratulate my sphere on their anniversary dates. I also post all my listings there as well as encouraging and positive-type posts almost every day. Best wishes to your success! Let's connect (or any AR members) ... Here is my LinkedIn profile www.linkedin.com/in/dianadahlberg1/
