After a successful career in the Restaurant and Hotel Industry I bring to my Real Estate career a thorough and deep understanding of customer service and exceeding expectations. I guess we all say something like that don't we!? But in fact I lived that life for 3 decades and our success came from the capacity and intelligence to LISTEN to what our clients were telling us. Success is only achieved by truly understanding the need, developing a plan of action and following through in a manner that yields the results intended. It does not come about by jamming a cookie-cutter formula down someone's throat. My sons and I are here for you and your needs.
So here is a little bit about what makes me who I am - things I enjoy - what I like to do. Maybe we have a match!!
In addition to my real estate and restaurant careers I am a Professional Wine Educator with Certifications from the Culinary Institute of America (Advanced Certified Wine Professional), the Society of Wine Educators (Certified Specialist of Wine) and the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (Advanced Certification / Diploma Candidate).
I am an avid Sailor and have owned a 28 foot sloop berthed on the Chesapeake. Our family has done a fair amount of bareboat chartering in the Carribean and on the Chesapeake as well.
Some refer to me as a "born again" fisherman. Didn't get into it till I was 30 but the passion has just grown ever more embedded in me since then. Whether using a light bamboo fly rod for brookies in the Blue Ridge or lightline fishing for smallmouth, walleye and pike in Canada, it is a passion that gives me much peace and pleasure. I have had the good fortune to do some fly-fishing in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming over the years and hope I can get back someday soon.
I am an avid cook and enjoying creating unique dishes and pairing them with a great wine. Always remember that while the cost of the wine may be an indicator of quality it is not the final arbiter. There are extra-ordinary wines available for your pleasure at true value price points.
My sons Jonathan, Erik and I are a family team within a family team - the Howard Hanna family of real estate professionals and services. We represent real estate interests throughout Western Pennsylvania, but focus on our roots here in Westmoreland County, Hempfield Township, Unity Township, Penn Township, Salem Township, Greensburg, Latrobe, Jeannette and Irwin.
My sons and I span the generations from Boomers to Millenials and we believe we provide a thorough perspective on the unique needs and perspectives of most who comprise these slightly arbitrary categories. What we believe is that life is about meeting today's needs while having your eyes and attitudes thoroughly open to the changes that lie ahead of you. Nothing is more real than change - and with change comes new realities to face.
So today's need for the one-room, crash-pad condo, changes to the 2-bedroom townhome, to the 3-bedroom and nice yard, to the mini-estate, and then maybe a bit of a reversal to the one-level, maintenance free patio home. Some variation of this happens to us all. My sons and I know our job is to help you realize those changes in needs, understand them and move easily from one stage to the next.
Life is change. Our task is to make it as seemless as possible.
