Ever show up at the settlement table where the mortgage broker doesn't show up and find that there are tons of issues with the closing?  The rate is wrong, there's an unexpected prepay penalty, extra fees?  Well, I have a firm belief that mortgages should be done locally.  If you are able to hand deliver your product to your client (I hate the word customer), you are darn sure that the only surprises will be good surprises.

Realtors work too hard to trust their clients to someone who is not serious enough about their business to attend the closing.  We go to ALL purchase closings!  I believe that if it was mandatory for the loan officer to attend the closing, we wouldn't be in the mess that we are in today.

We also have a non-profit organization, called Little Smiles, that operates out of our address.  It's a 501(c)3 that helps seriously and terminally ill children at local hospitals in the two markets where our mortgage company does business...
