i have a passion for trees that goes back to my academic training in Forestry and Forest Entomology. With a Bachelor degree in Forestry and a Masters in Forest Entomology from Stephen F. Austin State University, I went to work as a forester for a small lumber company in Woodville, Texas and then the U.S. Forest Service in Alexandria, Louisiana.
I began a 28 year career in the rapidly expanding information technology I/T industry in 1980 working for IBM for 18 years along with other smaller companies. While working in the I/T industry, I stayed current on trends in natural resources management and in 2007 decided to return to my first love. I gained my Arborist certification in early 2008 and have been working as a fulltime Arborist since then.
I bring a wealth of business and technical experience to my passion for trees in the urban landscape. I am a member and am certified as an Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). I am also a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) and have completed the ASCA Academy training.
Currently. I am the owner of, and principal consulting arborist for Tree Shepherds. Tree Shepherds is focused on the long term health and beauty of our client’s trees and provides a full suite of arboriculture consulting services. My wife, Noreen, and I have raised six children in Lewisville, Texas and continue to reside in that community.
