Get to Know Diana Clark

There are a few things that set me apart from most other Realtors.   First off, I am OLD!  I cannot believe that I am 65 but, it's true.  Most of my life has been spent on San Juan Island, so I do know quite a bit about the place where I sell.   Secondly, I do not do dual agency.  It's OK with me if other Realtors do dual agency, but I myself would prefer to be uniquely represented by my Realtor, so that is what I do for my clients, both Buyers and Sellers.  Third, I do not have an assistant.  I really like to be a hands-on agent during the entire transaction and I believe 'the buck stops here.'  If you call me, you speak to me directly and I let nothing fall through the cracks.  Since I work without assistance I limit my listings to less than ten because taking more listings would limit the time and resources I can spend on each listing.  You are maybe thinking that I cannot work with other Realtors, but that's not true.  I was president of the local Realtor association and  my peers in it voted me Realtor of the Year.  I have had a lot of experience and believe that each transaction has taught me valuable lessons.  I have gone from a hole in the wall type of independent office to working for a franchise to working for a privately owned International office and yet I feel like I've kept pretty much true to myself during it all.  I believe that buying property should be fun, and I try to make it fun for Buyers who look with me.  Most of my business comes from referrals from former clients, other Realtors, or people who know me personally.  Like many Realtors, I was formerly a teacher.  I am not politically active but tend to think non-judgementally and in a liberal frame of mind.  That is a fit with the island I live on.  I have enjoyed travel to Panama, Mexico, Turkey, and Belize.  I like to visit the small places and learn of other cultures.  I enjoy textiles and like to spin wool and knit.  I also like researching family history and sharing it.  I think research and details are two things that are important in real estate.  I enjoy working with buyers, sellers, or just answering questions about the place where I live. I value the individuality of a small town residence and the personal service it provides.

Living on a small island makes it less productive to specialize, but as it turns out most of the Realtors here do end up with a certain clientele that matches their personal interests.  Looking back through the years, I would say that most of my buyers have been to people looking for residences, and I have worked with all ages from first time home-buyers up to retired peoople looking for second homes.

My listings have mainly been in the category of view homes and homes on the water, however I have had listings for starter homes, vacant land, and everything in between. I have had listings on non-ferry served islands and listings on Shaw and Orcas Island.  Most of my listings are on the island where I live:  San Juan.

Whether Buyers or Sellers, those who come to me appreciate the confidential and private aspects of business done in my private office.  I try to listen more than I talk.  I believe that most of my buyers and sellers are intelligent people who can make up their own minds when they are presented with the information they need.  I think my role is in helping them to find the right questions to ask and getting them the accurate answers.

Friday Harbor is a small town in the San Juan Islands near Canada. We enjoy tourists who come to see the Orcas, and enjoy our sunny environment. We get half as much rain as western Washington.
