Get to Know Sandy Briggs

I am proud to say that my family consists of one wonderfully kind husband and two fantastic kids!  My husband of 27 years, Van, is the Operations Manager at Battelle's Marine Sciences Laboratory on West Sequim Bay.  My son, Joe, is a senior at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, and my daughter, Laine, is a senior at Sequim High School.

We moved to Sequim about five years ago from the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland), Washington.  The whole 13 years we lived in the Tri-Cities, we kept trying to figure out a way to get back to Idaho where we have family and a cabin near Yellowstone Park.  After about six months in Sequim, on a beautiful clear blue sky day, my husband looked over at me and said, "Honey, do you still want to try to get back to Idaho?"  I looked at him and said, "No, I love it here!" to which he replied, "Great, cause I do, too!"  We totally abandoned our dream of going back to Idaho for our dream of staying right here!  Interestingly enough, it took my teenage daughter about the same length of time to go from a devastated "You are taking me away from the only home I've ever known" to "I'm really glad we moved here!"  We've never been sorry we moved. We enjoy the beauty of the mountains, ocean, lush landscape, people, community, schools, and outdoors - absolutely everything!  This is the place we want to be.  We've traded a cabin near one National Park for a home near another.  We are all truly happy here!

When I'm not working happily with clients, you can find my husband and I cheering at our daughter's basketball and tennis matches - Go Wolves!  We also find time to fish for steelhead and salmon on the west end rivers (the Hoh, Sol Duc, Bogachiel, Calawah, and Queets).  I am an avid fly fisher and fly tyer and teach 115 boys between the ages of 12 and 16 at the Washington Youth Conservation Camp each summer on Orcas Island.

My goal is to continue to add to my growing list of personal friends that started out as my clients.

I've been in the Sequim and Port Angeles area for almost five years. After six months, we changed our dream of moving back to Idaho to our dream of staying right here. The Olympic Peninsula is great!
