I grew up in the Mohawk Valley; which is a small community in Oregon.  My family lived on a small rural farm.  Since there was never a shortage of chores to be done, I learned to work.  This attribute has proven to be a beneficial asset.  I also learned that family is valuable and now spend much of my spare time with family members doing a variety of crazy things.  I love to snow ski or do any sport related to water.  Oregon rain is the only water related activity I could use less of but when the grey clouds become too much I fly to a warmer climate to soak up sunrays and dry out.   Whether traveling to a familiar place or exploring some new location this is not a problem because I love a great adventure. 

My career path is unique.  I am a Registered Nurse with a back ground in Pediatrics and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  In 1999, I changed career paths and graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School.  Currently,  I am licensed to practice law in Oregon and Washington state and work part time as an attorney and more full time as a real estate investor. 

As an attorney working at a firm with a focus on Family Law, I became aware of many families losing their homes.  Often they were underwater, other times, they simply could no longer afford the family home and needed a way out.  I found I could help by providing solutions that were mutually beneficial first to the homeowner and for the law firm.  This led to negotiating short sales, taking property subject to the mortgage, master leasing, and other creative strategies that helped home owners get to the next phase of their lives with as little damage as possible.  This opened the door to real estate investment for me personally. I have done one of every type of investing, including, commercial, multifamily, tax liens, single family fix and flip, buy and holds, and lending.  Recently, I founded my own real estate investing firm, Laurel Capital Holdings LLC, which will focus on purchasing and rehabbing residential defaulted first lien notes.
