Get to Know Nicole L. Voigt

I am a partner of the Firm, focusing my practice in commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as the contracts, leases, land use, zoning, and environmental matters related thereto.  I additionally focuses in business formation and contracts; litigation arising from business, real estate, construction, and landlord-tenant transactions; and administrative permitting and proceedings, including environmental, land use, zoning, and appeal of tax assessments.

Having a B.S. in Ecology & Systematic Biology from California Polytechnic State University, as well as research and inventory/monitoring experience with the National Park Service and the University of Colorado, Boulder, I offer a deeper understanding of the issues underlying land-use, conservation, and environmental matters. I use this multidisciplinary background to facilitate effective legal communications and resolutions among the parties to transactions. In addition, with a background in construction, and further as a business owner, I understands many of the legal, contractual, and administrative challenges facing small businesses.

Prior to joining Kilcommons Shanahan, I was a Hunterdon County business owner. I own Soaring Moon Books, a hobby company that published “My Moving Activity Journal,” to assist children whose families are relocating. I also co-owned a general construction contracting business. Prior to that, I served as an associate attorney for Bowditch & Dewey LLP and Lawson & Weitzen LLP, in Boston, Massachusetts.

I received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 2000. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology & Systematic Biology with a minor in Statistics in 1995 from California Polytechnic State University.  I additionally spent a year at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Community Involvement:

I am a founding member and the first president of the Rotary e-Club of Hunterdon Horizon. I teach Legal I and Legal II, courses on business formation and contracts, for the Small Business Development Center at Raritan Valley Community College.  I have additionally enjoyed membership with the BW Nice (Business Womens Networking Involving Charity and Education), the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, and the Kingwood Township Environmental Commission.   When my children were younger, I was a past leader of the Holistic Moms Network Hunterdon County Chapter, formerly a Teacher of Spirit Play Curriculum at First Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hunterdon County, and a member of the hiring and membership committees of the Fellowship.
