Nannette Martin was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska with family on both sides that went to the northern territory in the 1940s. And though, she's lived with her husband and children in Salem, Oregon for over twenty-five-years, her roots in the valley go back to the 1850s when her pioneer ancestors homesteaded what is currently the Baskett Slough Wildlife Refuge in Polk County.
You'll find Nannette's pioneering spirit and tenacity central in her ability to create a positive real estate experience that meets your needs, whether buying or selling. Nannette became a broker in 2008, with the express purpose of being a consumer advocate, not a sales person. She believes there is a difference, and those who work with her experience this first-hand.
Nannette has varied experiences as a small business owner which include publishing, writing, personal service, marketing for other small businesses, and even raising an award-winning herd of cashmere goats on the family farm. She enjoys writing, learning about health and nutrition, gardening, raising urban hens in her back yard, and experiencing the beauty of nature in Oregon. She is a believer in social engagement and works to promote the well-being of women and children through various organizations on the local, national and international level.
There is a story behind the purple shoes that Nannette wears daily.
"In second grade, there was an essay contest and the title was given to us, 'If I Were a Pair of Purple Tennis Shoes.' I still remember imagining I was a pair of purple tennis shoes, trying to think what they would want and how they would want to be treated, before I wrote my award winning essay.
Early on, my natural ability to put myself in others' shoes stood out out."
Purple shoes are just one way that Nannette sets herself apart, and they serve as a fun reminder that her clients' needs are her top priority.
