I am born and raised in Ontario. My parents moved from a small mining town in Northern Ontario when I was very young and moved to Toronto as it was North America's first 'Planned Community.' We are talking about the early 1960's (sadly, I am aging myself), and their assessment was it would be a great place to raise a family. They were right - and btw, the house they bought in 1963'ish for $8,000 is now worth $850,000. Wow! Real Estate is and will continue to be a great long term investment.
I live and practice in the former borough of North York (now called Toronto). It is the north-east section of North York. The focus of my practice is Don Valley Village, Hillcrest Village, Bayview Village, Bayview Woods-Steeles, Henry Farm and Pleasant View.
Generally, these homes are regarded as middle to upper-middle working class neighbourhoods, family-safe and close to most desired amenities. There is also a smaller selection of entry level homes and homes in more affluent pockets. It would be fair to say that these communities of Toronto, along with the neighbourhoods bordering these communities, offer the widest range of housing in Toronto and some of the best homes in Toronto.
