Get to Know Marc McMaster

I grew up in Hanover, PA. You've probably heard of all the snack food companies there, UTZ Potato chips, Snyders Pretzels, there are a ton of them.  I lived there until I was 18 and graduated from Spring Grove High School.  After high school I joined the Army and spent 6 years as a Blackhawk Helicopter Mechanic and Flight Crew Chief.  I spent 4 years at Fort Campbell, KY, a year at Camp Stanley Korea and another year at Fort Drum, New York.  I had a couple interim stops at Fort Eustis and even spent some time doing disaster relief in Central America after Hurricane Mitch.  After I left the Army I moved to State College to go to school at Penn State Univeristy for Finance.  I started working part time in real estate while I got my degree and when I graduated I decided to stay in State College and make real estate my full-time career.

I've been in the Real Estate business in State College for over 9 years and during that time I've learned what's really important, knowledge about the local market.  What does that translate into for the people I work for? More money and an easier process for sellers and a better price under better terms and conditions for buyers.

I take my thirst for local knowledge to a way of giving back as well.  I serve on the Ferguson Township Planning Commission so I know what's going on in the surrounding area as well as to give back to the community.  I also serve on the State College Area School District Planning Commission.  I want to make sure I have a voice in local matters to make this community a better place for all of us to live.

Certifications

I have done just about everything in real estate so far in the 9 years I've been doing it.  I handle residential home sales, commercial sales and leasing, Broker Price Opinions, vacant land sales, farms, and I've even sold a goat along with a property.  One thing is important to me in all of those different aspects of the real estate business, my clients come first.  I try my best to make myself as available to my clients as humanly possible.  I give you the bad news with the good and I try to tell it like it is.

I make it a point to further my education every year I'm in the real estate business.  I currently hold an Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR) designation, The REALTOR GREEN designation, the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation, and I'm currently working on becoming a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) which should be completed by June of this year.  Last year I spent over 240 hours in the classroom to obtain the next level of licensure in the Commonwealth of PA, an Associate Broker.

What does that mean for my customers and clients? I know what I'm doing.  In the last five years, I've participated in over 150 transactions.  Experience is vital to a quality real estate agent.
