Get to Know Karen Ross

Originally a folk singer from Memphis, Tennessee, as a single parent, Karen Ross relocated to Miami, Florida in 1979. For the next twenty-five years she was employed as a legal secretary and eventually the director of word processing and technology for personal injury and medical malpractice firms.

She worked with attorneys bearing heavy litigation and trial practices. Quickly known for her creativity and organizational talent, Karen wrote a training manual and set the standard for professional trial and settlement brochures as well as continuity of content and standardization of forms.

It was in the law firm where she learned to “get along with very difficult high achievers.” Her experience in the law firm, educating legal assistants and assisting administration in procedures and technology, topped with five years in Real Estate sales as part of a mother-daughter team, has afforded her the proficiency  and expertise needed to work with and train new agents and agents new to EWM.

Karen has been the director of professional development for Esslinger Wooten Maxwell's Miami-Dade and Broward offices since June of 2004.  One of her training modules includes instructional blogging --  teaching Realtors how to blog as well as engaging in other forms of social media to enhance their networking efforts. She has also provided marketing consulting, design and assistance to new agents in Powerpoint and various software programs to create winning listing presentations.

As a Real Estate investor, Karen believes in her industry and encourages her students to become smart investors themselves as they assist their buyers and sellers in their budding financial portfolios. Developing expertise, sharpening skills, heightening education and ethics as well as enhancing value to fellow Real Estate professionals, their clients and the community is her mission statement.

Karen has ghost-written several self-published books and is consistently perfecting the EWM training materials. She has been known to “burn the midnight oil” testing and learning new software products to keep up with the ever-changing world of tech. She motivates her agents to raise the bar -- to provide EWM with cream-of-the-crop, top producing professionals. She was recently featured in The Herald for the “I am MDC” campaign" -- as she attended Miami-Dade College when she relocated to South Florida back in the 80s. Karen recently created the "Associate Spotlight" category in her blog posts on blog.ewm.com which features the associates at EWM Realtors who brush up against her during her classes.

"I love helping the associates get their names out to the public.  I work with some of the brightest and the best. They keep me on my toes!" Karen also has designed over 100 agent websites for her newer associates in training to help them with their start-up budget as part of the workshops and "Tech Tuesdays" in Weston after hours.
