Being a Realtor isn't always about buying and selling real estate.  It's about being part of the community, knowing resources, and being there when people need help. 

December 2007 the coast of Washington had hurricaine force winds that damaged many homes, farms, and businesses.  After the storm I worked part-time in real estate and spent the rest of my time doing crisis outreach counseling through a grant funded by FEMA under the authority of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief Act to ensure storm survivors access appropriate services based on current assessments and safety. 

I facilitated educational workshops to develop a disaster plan along with tools for disaster preparedness in Pacific and Wahikikum Counties.  I fostered community support by networking to create partnerships with community based organizations, cultural organizations, tribal leaders, state, federal, and local government agencies to promote familiarity with disaster relief resources.  Organized and facilitated public meetings with government and community leaders to address un-met needs of storm survivors.  I went door to door and drove up and down every road in Pacific and Wahikikum County looking for blue tarps on roofs, downed barns, and fallen trees on homes to see if people needed help. 

I have always been a top producer in sales, but I wasn't in 2008.  Thats okay, as we are a resiliant community and I am proud to have done my part to help people re-build their lives.
