Hello, my name is Daniel Nicholson and I am a licensed North Carolina real estate broker. But before I tell you about my 'professional life' let me give you a little background information about myself. I was born and raised in Morehead City and attended the local public school system. After graduation I went on to obtain three college degrees and at one time did medical research which eventually resulted in the publication of 4 or 5 research articles in medical journals. After returning to Morehead City in the late 1990's my wife and I briefly owned and operated a racing themed restaurant. While that did not work out as we had hoped it was a great learning experience. It was after that short business venture that I was introduced to the real estate profession.
I became a licensed broker and REALTOR in the fall of 2002. I am currently a member of the Carteret County Association of REALTORS (my local association), and I have earned the Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) and Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) designations and am a member of the Carteret County Chapter Women's Council of REALTORS (WCR). Since becoming a REALTOR I have become involved with my local association, serving on & chairing various committees, including Public Relations, By-Laws, and Finance. I have also served as an area director, President-Elect, Treasurer, and currently serve as the President of the Carteret County Association of REALTORS. On the state level, I have graduated from the NC REALTOR Leadership Academy and currently serve as a state director.
My invovlement in the real estate profession has led me to become involved in several civic organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, Toys for Tots, Boys & Girls Club, and Seashore Soccer League. I have also been heavily involved in my church by serving as a deacon (ordained), teacher, and serving on and chairing the Communion and Nominating committees.
By becoming a REALTOR and getting involved in the community in different areas, this has not only allowed me to increase my name & professional exposure within the community, but it has led me to become more mature in my professional life and has increased my self-confidence. It is due to this increased self-confidence and involvement that makes me believe that I can provide knowledgeable and quality servie for my clients.
On a more personal level, I am married to the former Kim Hughes who is a pharmacist for our local hospital's chemotherapy outpaitent clinic. Kim and I are the proud parents of two very active daughters. When not spending time with my family or serving on one of the many groups mentioned above, I am trying to improve my decoy carving skills by joining fellow guild members at the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild.
