Agent passes Realtors testDave Memory passed the test - multiple tests actually - to earn his Graduate Realtors Institute real estate designation. Memory used to be the manager of the JC Penney Co. store in downtown Tracy before it moved to the mall, but he retired in 2003. He put in 30 years with Penneys, a job he took right out of high school in Los Angeles. But in 1989 he was transferred to Tracy, where hes been ever since. His first few years in real estate were on a part-time basis.Being a Full Time agent is where the GRI comes in, a goal that relatively few of Tracys roughly 600 agents have reached, he says. The certificate comes after 92 hours of class work, with tests after each days session. "You have to pass it to move on," he said. The idea is to cram as many real estate rules into the brains of students as possible. Classes were taught by various real estate agents and attorneys who often drilled into students the ins and outs of disclosure laws and real estate forms. He said. "Im so much more knowledgeable now.
