Get to Know Brenda W. Stroud
Vice President and co-founder of an Internet inventory Database Company, real estate seemed interesting and challenging to me, I love contracts and law. I also like creative marketing. But I'm no "sales-person". I think that's what sets me apart... as I'm going along in real estate, I keep hearing that "we are sales people", but I do not hold to that. I feel more like a research specialist, someone is looking for their perfect home, and it's my challenge to find it for them. If someone is trying to sell his or her home, my challenge is to get it seen by the right person. I don't sell houses; I find homes for people and people for homes.
Listening is the key. If you're going to help someone find the perfect home or person... you must be a good listener. Sales people in general are taught to be better talkers than listeners. I really despise sales clichés. You must listen, watch and learn what people are looking for in order to find it for them. The more details you can gather from that person, the more apt you will be in helping them. The only difference between buyers and sellers is, a buyer must find a personal connection and a seller must become personally disconnected.
Buying a home or selling a home can be an emotional roller coaster. These emotions can sometimes be difficult. A good listener is the best medicine for people dealing with the emotional ups and downs of finding or selling a home. They need someone who will be there, to listen and lend a helping hand, but at the same time stay planted and professional... I like that part!
