You've probably pieced it together by now, but I am in sales for Baltimoresun.com. I focus solely on real estate and mainly on resale. I am just starting to get into commercial real estate and real estate auctions. That's still a pretty small niche for a sales rep, so I guess it's a good thing I'm a real estate junkie.

I bought my first (and only...so far) house at an Alex Cooper auction in December of '04. I would have jumped in earlier, but I had just graduated college in May and it took me a few months to find a job, build up some credit, find a home I could afford, and have settlement. I ended up in an ummmm, "interesting" neighborhood in Baltimore that we lovingly call Pigtown. I got to work on fixing it up and that spring I ripped out the first floor and replaced everything down to the floor joists. I even added a brand new kitchen from Ikea, which at the time was quite lavish. Now everybody in the neighborhood has stainless steel and granite, but I still like the basic little kitchen that I designed and did myself!

In the winter of '06 I took my real estate classes through L&F in Columbia. Aced the tests and was all ready to quit my job and become a real estate agent when I found out I couldn't afford to. With the market tanking, no good prospects, and all my friends too broke to buy a sofa yet alone a house, I decided that the timing was not right. Recently, I have activated my license and am hoping to do part time real estate in '09.

I ended up with Baltimoresun.com and now have the best of both worlds. I still am involved in real estate, still making commission, but still have a small base salary just in case.

I still live in Pigtown and have worked my way up to renovating the third floor. I now have a brand new master suite with a full bath overlooking Oriole Park. Now I'm working on the second floor bed and bath. I think I need to add a closet to the bedroom and lighten up the bedroom. That's my story, anything you want to know, just ask!
