If you're a Buyers Broker, DON'T EVEN GO THERE! Zillow is a classic Bait and Switch. You buy ... more If you're a Buyers Broker, DON'T EVEN GO THERE! Zillow is a classic Bait and Switch. You buy a territory and THEN you find that that "territory" was also sold to, not just the one other real estate company, but the search results for your area will display, in the case of Lovettsville, Virginia, up to 20 agents that outrank you. A NAME SEARCH for your personal name or company name WILL not show you anywhere. Why? Don't know. I guess Zillow has not discovered Google Search. The bait and switch relates to the way they sell TERRITORIES. Since I'm in a rural area and are looking for buyer leads in that area, I purchased THAT territory. No matter. When searching for Lovettsville VA, you won't find me. You'll see a long list of advertisements for LISTINGS. When speaking with the representative, if you can stop him from trying to sell you more, more, more, he'll advise that you need to get more endorsements from former clients. That's not compatible with my business model since I refer most consumers to agents in my network of Buyers Brokers. However, I did post endorsements from buyers that I sold directly, against my practice of not BUGGING past buyer clients for more business. They send it beautiful endorsements. However, I felt and still feel that that practice not only invades their privacy and their right to the QUIET ENJOYMENT OF THEIR HOME, it caused required that they lose time. Many had already sent me hand written notes of THANKS, but they are useless on Zillow. Of course, as I tried to explain to the Zillow sales person, bugging buyer clients of a year, 2 years, 3 years ago isn't something I'm going to do. Seems to me that, when you sell a TERRITORY, the purchasers of that TERRITORY would rank higher in a search for that TERRITORY/area than listing agents who have not purchased that TERRITORY, but simply have listings of homes for sale in LOVETTSVILLE. I take responsibility for spending hard earned money on this useless advertising site. I should have known better. That said, perhaps I can save another agent from throwing money into the ZILLOW black hole. When you buy a Zillow TERRITORY, you're buying the right to have their sales people contact you in the future and try to sell you MORE USELESS advertising. Oh, another thing. I got ONE (1) e-mail lead from my Zillow TERRITORY. It was a buyer inquiry for a listing that was ALREADY UNDER CONTRACT. WATCH OUT. I discovered that Zillow also sent that lead to a mortgage company in my area. PROBLEM, it's not a mortgage company to which I'd ever refer a buyer. So, I buy a TERRITORY and leads from my ad also go to another company??? What is that called?? Lenn Harley, Broker, Homefinders.com, 800-711-7988. Serving home buyers in Loudoun County VA.
