Someone in response to one of my blogs suggested creating a notebook to include a list of helpful hints that we can use and share with our colleagues. Great idea! So many ideas come from working together and finding out-of-the-box solutions to everyday annoyances in our Staging lives. I'm happy to share and look forward to reading ideas from other Stagers. I share these ideas freely since they are so often concepts that spring from our collective Stager consciousness and as such, are best shared collectively!

UPDATE - It took a price drop in addition to professional Staging and a return to a Name Brand Broker. However, this home has now SOLD after being on the market for over 9 months (the new broker got an offer within 2 weeks of getting the listing!) The clients are happy and relieved. They can now ...

I just finished a redesign for the most delightful clients. They asked that I use their furnishings as much as possible. I was able to keep my rental furnishing costs under $200. A few pillows, lamps, chairs, small office desk and some silk plants were all that I brought in. The rest belonged to ...

I know there have been AR blogs with a link to the HomeGain Survey before and I searched to see if I had bookmarked them to no avail. My main concern is that when I initially followed the link to HomeGain article, I read the following: "On a national level, agents reported that the average cost o...

I'm delighted to say that I have FINALLY completed the Staging on a new construction model unit. I first contacted the Realtors involved last summer and the model unit was finished last week. This has been a long haul but definitely speaks to building the relationship with your Agents. They have ...

This home is on acreage with an incredible view of the McKenzie River, about 25 miles upriver from Eugene Oregon. Our redesign was done using under $200 in new accessories, plus our normal Staging Redesign fee. We reconfigured what was on the property and were thrilled to hear that the Realtors a...

I just got an email from my staging mentor (a former builder) in the Seattle area, who shared the following news with me. My dad, Bob: - The 1200sq ft shop/garage in my back yard - yes, all my Staging buddies have "shop" envy. - A really great cordless power drill - Black satin Impervo paint - A screwdriver with 4 interchangeable heads in the handle (2 phillips, 2 straight)  - Industrial Strength Storage Racks: A ca...

Are you like most of the Stagers I've met in the past 3 years since I started my business? Almost every one of them has had some sort of artistic background. One was a professional painter and muralist, one was a cabinet maker, several played music, many, like me, had been graphic designers, a co...

This home was initially put on the market "as is" with the elderly homeowner still living in the home. It sat for several months with no offers. He moved out and it sat vacant - again, with no offers - until the listing expired. A new agent took over the listing, counselled the family to clean, p...

In the course of 3 years of home Staging, there have been many clients who have faithfully done what I've asked with regard to painting their homes a more neutral color in order to have those homes appeal to a broader market. After all, this just makes practical marketing sense. However, there ha...

I've often mentioned to Staging colleagues that the best way to make a decent living as a Stager is to optimize how we work.

The comments in my blog are intended to help other Stagers make not-so-fun stuff easier so we can get to the fun stuff more quickly!
